OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The goal of WHO's presence in countries,territories and areas is to develop a two-way collaboration between the Secretariat and countries, territories and areas, by supporting them to reach national health goals and contribute to global and regional public health action. WHO utilizes the Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS), a key element of the Country Focus strategy, as a strategic management tool to create synergy and alignment between WHO leadership priorities and national health policies,strategies and plans. Creating this synergy and alignment will be essential to advance WHO's organizational effectiveness and ensure WHO's relevance at country level. Pakistan Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) is making efforts toreach more children equitably preventing mortality and morbidity due to vaccine-preventable diseases using existing and new vaccines with heightened political commitment, government ownership and improved management using innovation and technology to improve its performance. World Health Organization is also providing technical assistance in the area of monitoring andsupervision to support the efforts of Pakistan Government to review and analyse the programme performance using specific tools in an inclusive and holistic manner and help the Government in mid course correction and optimize the utilization of available financial, human and material resources.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform below tasks:

1. Provide technical guidance to the EPI programmes atprovincial level to strengthen EPI system components; partnershipand coordination for immunization delivery system.

2. Liaise with partners to co-develop long termnational strategic plan (NIS) and annual EPI workplan at federal level and provincial level.

3. Coordinate with partners and stakeholders (other UN agencies and Civil Society Organizations) to ensure effective implementation of planned activities.

4. Work closely with the Federal EPI and the provincial programmes in implementation of the Urban Immunization initiative including coordination with implementing partners and provide guidance in private sector engagement based on the partnership policy and engagement of Civil Society Organizations).

5. Co-develop evidence-based proposals on the new vaccines introduction and ensure smooth implementation.

6. Provide guidance to the Federal EPI and the provincial programmes.

7. Contribute to the development and implementation ofa framework for engagement of Lady Health Workers (LHWs) in provision of immunization services and provide guidance to provinces in adopting relatedpolicies and guidelines.

8. Participatein the development of national and provincial plans for capacity building on EPI within the multi task health worker approach including LHWs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Medicine, Epidemiology or Public Health. Desirable: Master's degree in Public Health orepidemiology.

Experience

Essential: At least 5 years of working experience in health sector especially in EPI and other primary health care programmes. Desirable: Working with UN agencies/donors in EPI programmes.

Skills

Sound knowledge of planning and managing public health projects

Ability to review and develop policy documents and guidelines

Ability to write proposals for resource mobilization

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at PKR 6,380,226 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
