The UNDP-UNFPA-UNICEF-WHO-World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP) is the main instrument within the United Nations system for identifying research priorities on sexual and reproductive health and rights; for promoting, conducting, evaluating and coordinating related interdisciplinary research; for collaborating with countries to build national capacity to conduct research;and for promoting the use of research results in policy making and sexual and reproductive health programmes.HRP is operated from within the World Health Organization's Departmentof Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research (SRH). The Department draws on HRP research and global expertise to set norms and standards and develop global guidelines, and to support programme development in sexual and reproductive health and rights. More information about SRH and HRP can be found at https://www.who.int/teams/sexual-and-reproductive-health-and-research.The HRP Secretariat (SRT) is responsible for HRP governing and advisory bodies, strategic and operational planning, finance and administration, communications, global advocacy, fundraising, networking and partner engagement.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will:
(1) Support the Director and Unit Head in the coordination ofinternational affairs, and in the development and implementation of global advocacy activities for promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights in international areas and in the context of regional and global initiatives,such as FP2030, , SDG/Agenda2030, and in annual meetings and high levelpolitical events including G7/G20, WHA, UNGA, CSW, ICPD and others.
(2) Coordinate and implement parliamentary engagement activities for sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially with IPU and EPF, working in close collaboration with HQ/HMP Health and Multilateral Partnerships to ensure consistency with and support for WHO's overall parliamentary engagement strategy.
(3) Coordinate partnership activities for HRP, including
(i)development and implementation of an HRP partnership strategy and engagement plan;
(ii) development of new partnerships, and stewardship of existing partnerships with NSAs in Official Relations
(iii) management of HRP Standing Committee relations and meetings;
(iv) donor stewardship for major HRP Member State contributors;
(iv) due diligence and risk assessment for partnerships with non-state actors in line with WHO's Framework for Engagement with Non State actors (FENSA);
(v) support in the regular relation with H6.
(4) Prepare briefings for counterparts in Member States, UN agencies, other inter-governmental and non-governmental agencies on scientific and technical matters. Participate in the preparation of progress reports for governing and advisory bodies, WHO reporting requirements, and donors.
(5) Contribute to development and implementation of a 3-yearly HRP Communication and Advocacy strategy. Liaise on an on-going basis with SRH communications team to ensure that HRP and SRH advocacy activities are appropriately reflected in and supported by SRH communications channels, suchweb sites, newsletters, social media, etc.
(6) Other tasks as required by the Unit Head and Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: University degree in public health, gender studies, social or political sciences, communications, or health sciences.. Desirable: Advanced University degree in one of the above fields.
Experience
Essential: At least 5 years' work experience in global health, including in sexual and reproductive health and rights. Desirable: Working experience in a UN agency or an international nongovernmental organization in low- and middle-income countries.
Skills
Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights. Flawless English language writing skills..

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 62,120 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4307 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
