This is a G-5 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-5 contracts.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHOcountry cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health anddevelopment agendas and harmonized with the United Nations country teams.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform the following duties:Network and Hardware1.Monitor and maintain local server'sLAN and e-mail system including creating and modifying accounts.2.Administer and maintain disk storagebackups.3.Ensure that printers and photocopiersare properly configured and are available via the network. If necessary, topropose new printing solutions.4.Configure all the CO workstations andlaptop computers (including those of training participants and facilitators).5.Assist in the evaluation and follow-upof the needs for new hardware.Technical support and training:1.Provide full IT support to meetingsand events organized in Iraq WHO office as per ASO directives and instructions.2.Implement under the guidance of ITTunit in EMRO, specific ITT services needed in the CO (intranet, IPSEC, FireWall, Checkpoint secure client, GSM, GPN, VC etc.…).3.Identify technical problems, to solvethem directly or refer as appropriate. To provide assistance (first and secondlevel user support) and simple training on basic computing skills and officesoftware features.4.Maintain common office software andensure that virus scanning software is kept up to date on all computers.5.Organize storage and access tosoftware and ensure proper documentation and licensure.Management:1.Maintain log files and configurationtables.2.Maintain contacts with IT suppliers ofmaterials and services.3.Monitor the stock of computerconsumables. Conception/development of IT tools.4.Perform basic programming tasks suchas creating and updating high priority MS Office templates (i.e. forms).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education; Training in area of informatics or telecommunication; Formal training on Windows Operating Systems family; Formal training on MS Office Suite. Desirable: University degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field is an asset.

Experience

Essential: At least five years of progressive experience in operation of computers, hardware maintenance/trouble-shooting and software support. Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system.

Skills

--> Good knowledge of microcomputer operations;--> Excellent knowledge of WindowsOperating Systems and Windows based networking environment;--> Excellent knowledge of Windows basedback office and desktop applications; --> Knowledge of basictelecommunications technologies and Internet based protocols.

Use of Language Skills

Essential: Expert knowledge of English. Expert knowledge of Arabic. Desirable: Beginners knowledge of French.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 23,992 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
