This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

The National UN Volunteer will be assigned to the WHO Regional Office, within the Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCD) in the unit of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Prevention and Control along with the Access to Medicines and Health Technologies unit within the division of UHC/Health Systems.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Regional Advisor, Antimicrobial Resistance or her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Public Health Officer will:

• Prepare reports on progress made by Member States in the area of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). • Collect, compile and analyze regional data on antimicrobial consumption and use. • Conduct AMR events (workshops, meetings and trainings). • Perform other AMR-related duties, as requested. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Results/expected outputs:

• National progress reports on AMR. • Technical report on regional antimicrobial consumption. • Summary reports on conducted AMR events. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for development during the assignment.

Key skills and abilities required: • Good communication skills, report writing and presentation skills in English • Good computer literacy including managing different software: word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, EPI Info and SPSS. • Good analytical skills. • Ability to develop innovative approaches and solutions and solve problems. • Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills by working harmoniously as a member of a team, adapting to diverse educational, socio-political and cultural backgrounds and maintaining a high standard of personal conduct. • Producing results • Communicating in a credible and effective way • Fostering integration and teamwork • Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences • Moving forward in a changing environment
