This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The Azerbaijan Ministry of Health asked for technical assistance in strengthening and reforming public health services. WHO country office developed a general strategy to support MoH through "Essential Public Health Functions" (EPFHs) and added to APR activity as an extension.

The objective of the extension is "Support the Azerbaijan Government's efforts to improve the public health policy framework, strengthen the public health institutions and upskill public health competencies of the health workforce to ensure the system is resilient and can withstand unanticipated shocks.

Objectives The Technical Assistant (TA), under the direct supervision of the Project Officer (Dr Tural Gulu), provides a full range of technical assistance to all the activities within the tasks.

Activities Technical Assistance 1. Provide technical help to Project Officer and other staff on planning and execution of project deliverables 2. Participate in meetings, activities, and training programs on planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation phases 3. Take notes at the meetings and prepare technical process reports 4. Provide technical input for translation of medical terms in presentations, training materials 5. Facilitate small group training processes if requested 6. Perform all other work-related duties

healthcare provision or organization of healthcare related activities Education a) Essential: University degree (Bachelor's level) in medicine, health, or equivalent areas, relevant to this position. b) Desirable: Postgraduate master's degree/diploma in public health or health management a vital asset. Job Knowledge and Technical Expertise a) Essential: At least one year of professional experience at the national level working on public health projects. Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders such as national policymakers, NGOs, Health authorities, and international organizations in public health, or similar areas. b) Desirable: Demonstrated experience planning and implementing health-related projects or programs. Good connections with local health authorities and/or groups of interest for the WHO would be an asset. c) MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills d) Fluency in Azerbaijani and Russian, good knowledge of English

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
