Position Summary

The Technical Advisor – Mental Health, Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) & Protection provides technical leadership for the design, implementation, and integration of mental health, psychosocial support, gender, and protection programming. The role supports program quality, proposal development, and technical capacity building while ensuring alignment with country strategy and donor requirements.

This position also represents Action Against Hunger in technical forums, coordination platforms, and donor engagements while supporting integrated programming across sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Program Development

  • Provide technical leadership on MHPSS, protection, and gender integration across programs
  • Support development of high-quality project proposals and technical designs
  • Ensure alignment of programs with country strategy and international strategic priorities
  • Support integration of protection and MHPSS across sectors

Program Implementation & Quality Assurance

  • Support project start-up activities including recruitment, planning, and implementation frameworks
  • Conduct field visits to monitor program quality and address implementation challenges
  • Ensure quality donor reporting and internal program reporting
  • Provide technical guidance to program teams and partners

Capacity Building & Team Leadership

  • Train staff and partners on MHPSS, protection, and gender integration
  • Support departmental staff supervision and performance management
  • Provide mentoring and technical coaching to program teams
  • Support gender mainstreaming initiatives across programs

Coordination & Representation

  • Represent Action Against Hunger in protection clusters, GBV working groups, and technical coordination platforms
  • Participate in donor meetings and technical consultations
  • Coordinate with partners, government actors, and humanitarian stakeholders

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, or related mental health field
  • Membership in a recognized professional mental health association
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in MHPSS, protection, or gender programming
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience providing mental health services
  • Experience managing teams, including remote supervision
  • Fluency in French required
  • Strong written and spoken English required

Working Conditions

  • Based in Port-au-Prince Haiti
  • May require travel for program monitoring and coordination activities
