Duties and Responsibilities

The technical cooperation “Regional integration and green productive development for a more productive, inclusive and sustainable future in Latin America” is implemented by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL) of the United Nations (UN) with the support of “Open Society Foundations (OSF)” and in collaboration with Brazil’s Ministry of Finance (MF) and other entities in Brazil and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The Women in Finance Platform aims to promote and support women leaders in finance and women-led financial solutions to ensure reliable funding and investment for a just transition toward sustainable development. This is guided by new sustainable taxonomies designed to mobilize capital at scale—both public and private. It also seeks to recognize, strengthen, promote, and increase the visibility of women leaders and decision-makers in finance, highlighting the effectiveness and impact of their financial actions and their influence on shaping financial systems, through the exchange of experiences and knowledge, the promotion of dialogues on the topic and the holding of high-level activities in strategic international forums on the topic. The Global Platform of Women Leaders in Finance was officially launched during the High-Level Week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, through events and activities held on September 20th, 21st, and 23rd, 2024. The launch marked a significant milestone in advancing the Call to Action initiated by the Brazilian Commission of Women Leaders in Finance, following the agreement made at the 78th UN General Assembly in 2023. The event brought together women leaders from the public and private sectors, finance executives, and representatives from international organizations, development banks, and academia. The Platform advocates that, in light of the intensifying climate emergency and the significant setbacks in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a new profile of leadership is urgently needed—one that can create structural conditions to accelerate and implement sustainable development and a just transition with gender equity. The consultancy will consist of technical advice to support the Women in Finance Platform, including the elaboration of technical reports and the organization of events. The activities and products developed should contribute to the visibility and consolidation of the Platform and its constant alignment with the construction of a more productive, inclusive and sustainable future. In collaboration with the MF, CEPAL and the project's technical team, the consultant must carry out the following activities 1. Generation of technical documents and planning of regional and/or international events and strategies for engaging female leaders in Brazil and Latin America. Support should include mapping and analysis of related initiatives and female leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as platforms and networks to be considered in the construction of the Platform. 2. Organization and coordination of regional and/or international technical events, including prior mapping of guests and debate topics, preparation of speech scripts, guidance for moderators and briefing on each event. The organization should involve the preparation of a concept note for each event, preliminary mapping of guests, panel topics, venue, necessary infrastructure and logistics, among others. 3. Preparation of recommendations for the operation of the Platform and strengthening of the initiative in Brazil and Latin America in the 2026-2029 triennium. The consultant must participate in periodic meetings for coordination and guidance for planning and aligning activities.
