The organisation’s business area - GIZ International Services - is the vehicle for offering GIZ’s services to international clients.

GIZ International Services is currently preparing to bid on the EU funded project tender: EU-Viet Nam Women-led Green Partnership Programme.

The project’s objective is to enhance the role and the voice of women in gender-responsive green transition processes. The European Union’s (EU) Multiannual Indicative Program for cooperation with Viet Nam 2021-2027 foresees climate-responsive digital circular economy as one of EU’s priority areas.

Your tasks

The Team Leader (m/f/d) will be responsible for the overall management of the project in terms of content, priorities, stakeholder management, ensuring adequate approaches to meet the objectives and purposes of the project and delivering timely quality outputs. The Team Leader will manage the Long- and Short-Term Experts team and will work closely with the EU Delegation. Furthermore, the Team Leader will be in charge of the digital circular economy component of the project. The Team Leader will also ensure that all project activities are aligned with the transformative approaches of the EU Team Europe Initiatives.

Your profile

Qualifications and skills:

  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent in economics, climate science and administration, climate policy, international relations, social sciences, or a discipline related to the issues covered in the programme or equivalent professional experience in any discipline relevant to the project of a minimum of 10 years.
  • Thorough knowledge of the EU Green Deal policies, including familiarity with Team Europe Initiatives would be vital.
  • Sound leadership skills, proven ability to provide strategy and guidance to a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proven organisational, communication, mobilisation and change management skills.
  • An excellent verbal and written command of English is required.

General professional experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience related to a programme in the field of climate change and environmental conservation policies in an intergovernmental institution, international organisation, or international consulting firm.
  • Extensive professional experience in South-East Asia (preferably Viet Nam) is essential.
  • Experience in working directly with national and provincial actors is of advantage

Specific professional experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing cooperation programmes in developing countries, linked to economic development with focus on entrepreneurship opportunities and job creation in the field of green economy and digital circular economy with a focus on women and girls.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a team leader, including proven experience in managing international teams of experts of different technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and supporting the implementation of climate change related policies linked to sustainable agriculture and/or other sectors of the economy (i.e., energy, manufacturing).
  • Experience in capacity building and trainings for non-state and state actors on gender-sensitive climate change, environmental protection and participatory and structured dialogues related to disaster risk reduction frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with small and medium enterprises.Proven knowledge of European Commission project management procedures and financial regulations.
