ABOUT THE JOB

Under the supervision of DRC Area Program Manager/ Economic Recovery Manager, the Economic Recovery Team Leader is responsible for the management and overall execution of the economic recovery activities in the East, based on budget and maintenance of standards. The Team Leader – Livelihoods oversee a team composed 3 or more national staff and guide them to implement program activities in the field base on the DRC rule and regulation. The position will report technically to the Livelihoods Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

Program management

  • Provide direct support to DRC economic recovery staff.
  • Mobilizing with government and other relevant stakeholders in overall project implementation.
  • Mobilizing the team for delivery assistance/services and implement the project actives in the field.
  • Provide staff with direction in the field and provide technical support where needed.
  • Attend relevant cluster/working group meetings hosted by other NGOs and UN agencies that address economic recovery issues of concerned population or as delegated by Economic Recovery Manager.
  • Ensure the service quality and overall integrity of the program.
  • Identify means of enhancing strengths and opportunities, addressing weaknesses and threats. Formulate actionable recommendations.
  • Responsible to lead logistics processes including on time procurement, quality checks of procured items and organise appropriate distribution in the field.
  • Ensure timely program implementation.

Administration

  • Ensure the policies, procedures, and practices of DRC as expressed in the administrative guidelines are fully adhered and followed.
  • Ensure the respect of labor law, DRC rules and regulations, and internal regulation applicable at country level.
  • Ensure all DRC policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure program documents are complete, up to date, and stored appropriately.
  • Resolve issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.

Monitoring and reporting

  • Monitor program activates in line with activity plan, in collaboration with the DRC policy and procedures.
  • Prepare progress reports of the program at regular intervals to relevant managers
  • Proactively manage changes in program scope, identify potential needs for adjustment and communicate it to stakeholders
  • Review deliverables prepared by the program team before passing it to the beneficiaries.

Staff management

  • Line manager economic recovery program staff in the region.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Supervise program team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Motivate team to work together in the most efficient manner.
  • Keeps program team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.
  • Guide staff to communicate and network clearly, appropriately and transparently.
  • Ensure staff capacity building and capacity development in all areas of the program.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in management or other activities related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, reporting and leading the team in order to implement economic recovery project properly as well as representing DRC in meetings/trainings.
  • Working experience with communities especially in implementing economic recovery programs.
  • Good management and leadership skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem solving abilities

Education/qualifications:

  • Bachelor in economic, agriculture, engineering or other relevant field.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

Languages:

  • Good knowledge of English and fluency in Dari and Pashto
