iDE Bangladesh is seeking a dynamic team leader to lead an anticipated USAID-funded research project on aquaculture and fisheries. The Aquaculture & Fisheries Team Lead will spearhead a groundbreaking initiative to scale aeration technologies for small-scale aquaculture in Southwest Bangladesh. This role involves overseeing research design, economic evaluation, and validation of aeration systems, while collaborating with universities, private sector partners, and stakeholders. The position requires managing project implementation, financial compliance, and donor communications, as well as building capacity and networks to ensure scalability and sustainability. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in aquaculture, fisheries, or related fields, with proven expertise in research, stakeholder engagement, and project management. About the Project: This project focuses on introducing emerging aeration technologies to small-scale aquaculture systems in Southwest Bangladesh. The initiative aims to develop a commercial aeration package tailored to smallholder farmers, integrating essential weather-based recommendations to optimize productivity and resilience.
Project Objectives:
- Field Assessment:
○ Conduct a Human-Centered Design (HCD) assessment to identify and adapt aeration technologies suitable for small-scale farmers.
○ Verify adapted systems through field trials for practical application.
- Field Testing:
○ Test selected aeration technologies in small farmer ponds.
○ Integrate best aquaculture production practices to develop a scalable aeration package for private sector partners.
- Weather Service Verification:
○ Design and test weather advisory services providing actionable recommendations for aeration technology users.
○ Reduce losses from extreme weather events through tailored guidance.
- Capacity Building:
○ Strengthen research and commercialization capabilities among university students, private sector players, government agencies, fisheries development programs, and aqua-mechanization stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Serve as Principal Investigator (PI), overseeing research design, validation, and economic evaluation of aeration systems in collaboration with universities.
● Lead project implementation, managing resources, partner relationships, and stakeholder engagement.
● Design and manage sub-awards, contracts, and budgets with universities and private firms.
● Build networks with WorldFish, BFRI, DoF, and other USAID and donor-funded programs to amplify impact and scalability.
● Provide technical advisory support for weather-based services integrated with aeration technology.
● Link project outcomes with private sector actors and local stakeholders to ensure sustainability.
● Ensure financial compliance with USAID rules and regulations.
● Collaborate with GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) focal points to incorporate inclusive practices into project planning and execution.
● Manage all donor communications, reporting requirements, and sub-grant agreements.
