Overview

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by proving administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This internship is in Host Country Services Unit (HCSU) of Central Support Services, Division of Administrative Services, United Nations Office at Nairobi. Under the supervision of the Manager, HCSU, the incumbent's duties will be: Responsibilities • To capture information from hard copies to electronic system, i.e., excel, access & SharePoint ensure that the information that is captured is accurate and in good standard. • To create and maintain excel-based tools and reports. • To provide data analysis and insights to support organizational goals. • Enter information from documents to be stored and transmitted. • Consistently check work for accuracy and completeness • Complete forms and edit information. • Read the information and key the data into the necessary fields. • Compare the entered information with the source to identify errors and correct them. • Update existing data in the electronic system The HCSU Internship is for 6-months and will be in-person. The internship is unpaid (no remuneration or allowances).

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
