Org. Setting and Reporting This post is located in the Medical Insurance Section, Financial Resources Management Service, Division of Administration of the United Nations Office at Geneva. The incumbent reports to the Administrative and Benefits Officer of the Medical Insurance Section.

Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Administrative and Benefits Officer of the United Nations Staff Mutual Insurance Society against Sickness and Accident (UNSMIS), the incumbent is responsible for the following duties :

1. Tasks related to the processing of medical claims: - Processes health insurance claims; - Checks claims, prior authorizations and supporting documents; checks benefits and related costs assisted by more experienced Claims Assistants of the Unit; - Verifies and validates expenses, uses accurate reimbursement codes and effects data validation in the New Health Insurance Information System (NHIIS) and the e-Claims portal of UNSMIS; - Timely follow-up of pending files;

2. Tasks related to the verification of payments: - Analyzes the list of pending payments and the list of pending claims with the assistance of more experienced Claims Assistants of the Unit;

3. Other tasks: - Assists in drafting responses to insured members; - Archives medical claim files; - Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience At least two (2) years of experience in general office support or related area is required.

Experience in the UN Common system is desirable.

Experience in international group health insurance is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English or French with knowledge of the other is required. Knowledge of Arabic or German is desirable. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice The duration of the appointment will be up to 31 December 2022 with possibility of extension.

This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. A staff member subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment.

Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat.
