Overview

Provide operational and administrative support to the Warehouse and Distribution Unit.

You have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two (02) years of working experience in general office support, logistics or related material management or warehouse distribution activities is required.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office is required.
  • A valid driving license Type B is required.
  • Forklift operator certificate (up to 3 tons) is required.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Result of Service

Provide effective operational and administrative support to the Warehouse and Distribution Unit, ensuring timely and accurate execution of warehousing activities, proper maintenance of records and documentation, and efficient customer service. Their contribution supports uninterrupted warehouse operations and enhances the overall service delivery of the Supply Chain Service at UNGSC. The duties will be performed in person.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunication Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programs of the UN system worldwide. The UNGSC seeks to hire two (2) Individual Contractors to support warehouse and administrative activities within the Warehouse and Distribution Unit, Delivery and Return Section, Supply Chain Service, located in Brindisi, Italy. The Team Assistants will work under the direct supervision of the Team Leaders of the Warehouse and Distribution Unit and/or the Unit Chief. The individual contractors will perform the following duties: Warehouse Support • Provide operational support by performing physical warehousing activities as required. • Assist with the movement, handling, and organization of inventory and assets within the warehouse. Administrative and Office Support • Perform a variety of office and general administrative tasks in support of the Unit’s activities. • Maintain and update both paper and electronic files, records, and databases. • Draft responses to routine correspondence and communications; prepare and format a wide range of documents and reports using standard office software. • Review, record, distribute, and process incoming and outgoing mail, documents, and other material; ensure follow-up on pending actions. • Maintain and update distribution lists and assist in preparing and disseminating reports, notices, and other materials, using electronic formats whenever possible.

Qualifications/special skills

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (02) years of working experience in general office support, logistics or experience in related material management or warehouse distribution activities is required. Experience working with Microsoft Office is required. A valid driving license Type B is required. Forklift operator certificate (up to 3 tons) is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, Fluency in English is required.

Additional Information

This position is open for recruitment for an initial period of three (3) months with possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds. The position is financed by extra-Budgetary funds. The appointment and renewal thereof are subject to the availability of the funds. Recruitment for this position is done on local basis.
