Overview

Assist in administrative tasks and document design within the UN.

You have:

  • Proficiency in desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by proving administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This internship is in Host Country Services Unit (HCSU) of Central Support Services, Division of Administrative Services, United Nations Office at Nairobi. Under the supervision of the Manager, HCSU, the incumbent's duties will be: Responsibilities • Design and layout various documents, including reports, brochures/flyers, newsletters, banners, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Standard operating Procedures (SoPs) and presentations. • Ensure consistency in style, fonts, and images across all publications in adherence to HCSU guidelines. • Prepare files for printing to ensure high-quality production. • Maintain an organized archive of all published materials. • Stay updated with the latest desktop publishing software and industry trends. • Creating short videos and infographics for the website. • Update the website with HCSU service highlights, achievements, etc..

Qualifications/special skills

However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
