Overview

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by proving administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This internship is in Host Country Services Unit (HCSU) of Central Support Services, Division of Administrative Services, United Nations Office at Nairobi. Under the supervision of the Manager, HCSU, the incumbent's duties will be: Responsibilities -To capture information from hard copies to electronic system, i.e., excel, access & SharePoint ensure that the information that is captured is accurate and in good standard. - Enters information from documents to be stored and transmitted. - Consistently check work for accuracy and completeness - Completes forms and edits current information. - Reads the information and keys the data into the necessary fields. - Compares the entered information with the source to identify errors and correct. - Updates existing data in the electronic system - Separates information into different sections to categorize and identify certain characteristics. - Assist in developing templates for use by the office to streamline the capturing of information. - ----Responsible for storing and filing completed information and maintaining records of work tasks and completed documents.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
