Org. Setting and Reporting The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. This position is located in the International Trade and Integration Division. The incumbent reports to the Head of the International Trade Unit. This position is part of the project “Support the strengthening of policies to monitor and promote the participation of MSMEs in cross-border goods and services e-commerce for an inclusive and sustainable pandemic response and recovery in East Asia and Latin America”, funded by the Forum of East Asia Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).

Responsibilities Within limits of delegated authority the Team Assistant at this level may be responsible for the following duties:

· Sorts and distributes or processes mail and other documents. · Uses basic keyboard and word processing skills to prepare forms and short documents (e.g. memos, letters, faxes, electronic mail, etc.). · Delivers urgent mail/messages. · Maintains unit files (paper and electronic). · Compiles and maintains a registry of all activities and outputs of the project required for its final evaluation. · Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. · Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. · Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Job - Specific Qualification Relevant training or courses in Law are desirable.

    Work Experience One year of experience in clerical and general office support or related area is required. The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to zero for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.

    Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and Spanish is a working language of ECLAC. For the position advertised, fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

    Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
