Result of Service The team assistant will ensure a smooth flow of work and proper coordination with the contractors who are or will be awarded the projects in the UN-House. The team assistant will conduct daily site visits and submit weekly reports to the project manager. He/she will assist the manager to ensure that all works are compliant with the specifications and security safety rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities The team assistant will be reporting to the project manager under the Facilities and Assets Management Services Section. He/she will be assisting in coordinating day-to-day project implementation and overall project outcomes, as well as, monitoring schedule of works and assessing cost implications.

His/her responsibilities will include conducting regular site visits and reviewing and monitoring contractor’s program of works. The team assistant will also assist in preparing, compiling tender documents (BOQ, drawings and specifications) and evaluation during the awarding procedure. He/she will assist the team in preparing budget estimates, and will be recording and updating records of all critical deliveries in the Section such as Fuel, Diesel and Water supplies.

Qualifications/special skills A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related area is required.

All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of four years work experience in a mixture of civil engineering, site engineering, coordination of construction work experience or related area is required. Previous work experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software is desirable.

Languages Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
