Result of Service The team assistant will ensure a smooth flow of works and conduct a proper coordination with the contractors who are or will be awarded the projects in the UN-House.

The team assistant will conduct daily site visits and submit weekly reports to the project manager. Also, he/she will make sure all works are compliant with the specifications and security safety rules and regulations.

Expected duration 6 Months

Duties and Responsibilities The team assistant will be reporting to the project manager under the facilities and assets management section. He/she will be managing day-to-day project implementation and overall coordination of project outcomes, monitoring schedule of works and assessing cost implications.

His/her responsibilities include applying value engineering when needed, conducting regular site visits, reviewing and monitoring contractor’s program of works.

The team assistant will be providing the needed support in preparing and compiling tender documents (BOQ, drawings and specifications) and their evaluation during the awarding procedure.

Also, he/she will be supporting the team in preparing yearly budget for regular works and projects. He/she will be recording and updating records of all critical deliveries in the department such as Fuel, Diesel and Water supplies.

Qualifications/special skills A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture or related area is required.

All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. 1 year of experience in engineering and/or site engineering and construction management is required. 1 year of experience in facilities management is desirable.

Languages Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
