While Liberia is an English-speaking country, it has many French-speaking staff from neighboring countries and engages extensively with French-speaking West Africa. Many non-French speakers struggle to express themselves in French, which can hinder their professional development. The goal of the French lessons is to help UN staff and UNVs to learn French to enhance collaboration and community within Liberia CO and across West Africa.

We are looking for a French teacher to conduct A1 level French lessons to UN Volunteers & UN Staff working in Liberia. Tasks will include:  Develops and implements lesson plans that adhere to curriculum standards and teach French grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and culture to students.  Creates a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and academic excellence  Organizes weekly class time so that instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time  Assesses and evaluate student learning through assignments, quizzes, tests, and other forms of assessment.

 Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an institution of higher education in French language French Literature or related field  Prior experience working as a French teacher or a similar role in the Educational field is preferred  Ability to plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive teaching and instruction program virtually  Demonstrate excellent ability to communicate fluently in French and English, both verbally and in writing  Strong time management skills.  Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.  Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one and small group situations to students  Works well with and respects others from diverse backgrounds and cultures
