POSITION: TEACHER ASSISTANT

WORK LOCATION: SARAJEVO, Transit Refugee Center (TRC) Ušivak

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1 Position

PURPOSE OF POSITION

World Vision BiH is responding to the migrant situation in BiH by providing social services and support to children and adult refugees. World Vision BiH also provides non-formal education, formal education and vocational trainings for the children within the reception canter.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for preparation of class/project activities (scheduling classes, development of teaching plan)
  • Responsible for assisting teacher in conducting non – formal classes workshops for children age 5 to 18 accommodated in Ušivak TRC
  • Responsible for assisting teachers and children in formal classes for children age 5 to 18 in designated schools
  • Responsible for assisting teachers and children in vocational training for children age 15 to 18 accommodated in designated schools
  • Plan and implement educational activities and events together with team members.
  • Presenting lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
  • Deliver personalized instruction to each child by encouraging interactive learning.
  • Creation of open, trustful, creative and positive atmosphere in which children will be motivated to work and to learn.
  • Distributing educational content
  • Adapting to the individual abilities of children, giving priority to problem-solving teaching, teaching outdoor and in nature, learning based on insight and group and individual work using audiovisual aids and methods.
  • Systematic monitoring of children's progress (Evaluate and document students’ progress).
  • Cooperation with parents, providing educational support though individual work, lectures and workshops
  • Ensuring classroom is clean and orderly.
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with other stakeholders, operating in TRC Ušivak
  • Working collaboratively with WV BiH Emergency Response staff and participate in staff meetings
  • Preparing relevant inputs for project reports

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION:

  • High school diploma with minimum 1 years working with children, preferably adolescents
  • BA in relevant field would be considered as an asset
  • Previous experience with migration context or projects would be considered as an asset.
  • Professional experience in the field of social or educational services or in organisations which deal with immigrants or poverty alleviation is an asset;
  • Attuned to Child Protection and Education issues especially in emergencies preferred
  • Willingness to work in difficult environment
  • Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Fluent English written and spoken preferred

ADDITIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AS A MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Work experience in Child Protection and Education area, in NGO sector is preferred.
  • Ability to compromise, negotiate and work well with others.
  • Ability to work and problem-solve in high-stress situations;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to perform well individually and as team member
  • Strong flexibility and adaptability
  • Openness to others
