You have:

  • Advanced University degree (Masters Degree or Equivalent) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management or related field is required.
  • A first-level degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management or related field of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in coordinating programs, providing administrative, logistical, communication and operational support is required.
  • Experience in working with international organizations and donor projects or proven ability to manage the development and implementation of project activities is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and French is required.

The Technology, Climate Change & Natural Resource Management Division is seeking for a Project Assistant Consultant for the Digital Centre of Excellence who will support in the effective implementation of the work programme of the Center in advancing the various components of digital transformation such as Digital ID, data management and privacy, trust and interoperability, harmonization of policy and legal frameworks as well as capacity development

Work Location Addis Ababa

Expected duration The contract will be for a period of twelve months from the date of signature of the contract. The total fees will be $36,000 to be paid monthly basis at $3,000.

Duties and Responsibilities Background

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in September 2018 embarked on a Digital Initiative to support African countries in fully harnessing the opportunities of digital identity (ID) to facilitate the provision of legal identity for all Africans, and to leverage digital trade in the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement. Given the critical linkages between digital ID, digital trade, and digital economy, the scope of the work under this Initiative continues to evolve to address digital transformation. This expansion in the scope of the work is in response to the requests from member states to address the fundamental, cross-cutting, and complex impact of digitization.

Duties and Responsibilities

This Consultancy is located at the Technology, Climate Change & Natural Resource Management Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Under the general supervision of the Director of the Division and the direct Chief of Technology and Innovation Section, the Consultant will be responsible for the following duties: - Support in monitoring budget/work programme with respect to various budgets of the Digital Centre of Excellence. - Support in the effective implementation of the work programme of the Digital Centre of Excellence. - Reviews, analyses and assists in the finalization of cost estimates and budget proposals. - Support in the preparation of presentation materials using appropriate technology/software. - Support in the drafting of budget reports based on the results collected to disseminate to partners and donors. - Audits the contractors' invoices against the goods and services provided by the contractor and approved by the UN. - Processes the payment of contractors' invoices and monitor payments. - Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Advanced University degree( Masters Degree or Equivalent) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management or related field or other relevant area is required. A first-level degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management or related field of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ Experience in coordinating programs, providing administrative, logistical, communication and operational support is required. Experience in working with international organizations and donor projects or/and proven ability to manage the development and implementation of project activities and/or experience working in the UN System and/or experience in Resource Mobilization is an advantage. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy fluency in English and French is required.
