The logistics team objective is to support Country office (CO) programmes reach their objectives. The Haiti CO has a challenging Logistics process of programme supplies, other goods, services and Logistics services and therefore Logistics support to programme staff, operations, partners, and normative guidance is key to ensuring successful support to the programmes of UNICEF Haiti CO. A temporary

position is being created following the move on temporary assignment of the actual incumbent.

How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of Supply and Logistics Officer, supports the warehouse operations in the Country Office and field offices. Carries out the receiving, storage, packing and loading. Supports direct distribution as might be needed.

The key services and tasks to be provided/undertaken during this temporary appointment is as follow:

  • Monitors to ensure that 3rd party team carry out the loading and un-loading of planes, trucks and containers. Might also participate directly in unloading and loading when needs arise.
  • Undertakes the receipt and dispatch of all consignments arriving in the warehouse and monitor in 3rd party managed warehouses.
  • Monitors to ensure that 3rd party team carries out the receiving of shipments into the warehouse including quality control of palletization, packing and labelling of incoming shipments. Might be required to do so in warehouses without third party support.
  • Undertakes the transfer of goods into the warehouse for storage.
  • Prepare stacking/storage plans to ensure utilization of the space optimally.
  • Supports establishment of appropriate procedures and systems to ensure efficiency of the warehouse operations.
  • Processes the picking requests from the warehouse.
  • Undertakes or ensures the packing of sets, kits and individual items into boxes if required.
  • Ensures the labelling, stacking and palletization of the packed boxes in line with good practices.
  • Drafts weekly stocks and logistics movement reports.
  • Prepare loading plans and ensure that standard waybills are duly filled.
  • If necessary, implement and organize new warehouse facilities which may include installation and assembly of temporary warehouse structures (e.g. Wiik-Halls/Rub Halls).
  • Performs general warehouse maintenance including cleaning of the warehouse area.
  • Participates in physical inventory count.
  • Collaborates with, 3rd Party service providers, Governments and partners as might be required.
  • Provides technical and advisory support to 3rd Party service Providers, Government and partners on warehouse management issues.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of Secondary education supplemented with formal training in Warehouse management, logistics, business or training in appropriate disciplines. Certification in Humanitarian Logistics or equivalent certification is an asset.
  • A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in a warehouse/logistic function.
  • Intermediate IT skills, e.g. computer literacy and ability to use standard office tools.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset.
  • Working experience from a humanitarian organization or in emergency context is an asset.
  • Fluency in French. Working knowledge of English an asset.

General Service Staff are recruited locally. Candidates must be in possession of an existing work permit or resident/citizen of Haiti to be considered eligible for this post. UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
