OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Department of Information Management and Technology has an operational and strategic role. On the one hand, the department provides relevant, quality, reliable and cost-effective IT services in order for the Organization to achieve its health mandate. On the other hand, it aims to be a strategic enabler for WHO by creating partnerships with business units (administrative and health technical),capturing business needs, establishing and managing projects to address these requirements. The Chief Technology Officer sets the overall technology direction to deliver the Information Management and Technology strategy and meet the needs of the Organization. It provides services and underlying technology platforms for digital workplace and enterprise information systems through the following teams:i. Application and Information Management: Manages enterprise applications, platforms and the development of information systems that support the digital transformation;ii. Architecture and Infrastructure: help sets the overall technology architecture and standards and manages technology infrastructure foundation;iii. Workplace and Collaboration Services: Manages technology platforms and services for a digital workplace, including tools for end-users and collaboration services;iv. Operations and User Support: Support and operates IT services and technology platforms; supports users for issues and requests related to IT services and corporate business processes.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Reporting to the Group Lead (Infrastructure and Operations Management), the incumbent works closely with IMT team colleagues in Geneva and Kuala Lumpur to support the delivery of workstation and associated services. He/she will coordinate with Systems Engineers, Systems Support Specialists, Proximity Support Specialists and services desks at HQ and the regions to package new software, keep existing software packages up-to-date, apply systems and security patches, assign software licenses and keep track of them, and provide third-level support for end-user systems.

- Provide support for the WHO managed desktop and end-user services, and underpinning systems

- Package standard software for the managed desktop environment

- Review and keep up-to-date existing desktop software packages

- Test and provide diagnostics for application running on a native Windows desktop environment.

- Perform complete end to end packaging activities include source validation till deployment and production support

- Assign software licenses to end-users; keep track of license assignments; maintain inventory of software licenses; trigger acquisition of new licenses as required

- Evaluate non-standard software requests in line with business needs, recommend solutions, and update the list of standard software as required.

- Prepare and update operating system images

- Provide third level support on the managed desktop environment, including the operating system and applications; resolve incidents and service requests in this area

- Provide backup systems engineer support

- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential:

- University degree in computer science, engineering, or information management, or related discipline. Desirable:

- Relevant professional training and/or certification related to Windows desktop environment, particularly Application packaging.

Experience

Essential:

Minimum one year working experience in an I.T. environment including:

- Demonstrated experience in Applications and Software Packaging in Windows environment ;

- Sound experience of application management, configuration, automated installations ;

- Experience in ICT User Support and Training ;

- Experience in Systems Administration Microsoft SCCM (SystemCenter Configuration Manager) for Imaging, Deployment and Patch Management, PowerShell;

- Experience in ICT Platform and Systems Engineering;

- Experience in Technical Documentation and Communication. Desirable:

- Experience working in a large national, multi-national or international organization and familiarity with the UN system would be an asset.

Skills

- Solid knowledge in application packaging with Microsoft Installerpackage (MSI) and/or Virtual format (App-V)

- Excellent knowledge of Windows desktop operating system, PowerShell

- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

- Good knowledge of desktop anti-virus.

- Knowledge of SCCM, WSUS andWindows server operating system.

- Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at MYR 96,606 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
