Sustainable Energy Specialist

Description of task
Under the direct supervision of Programme Officer, Climate Change Energy and overall supervisor of Team Leader, Climate Change, Energy and Resilience the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Provide inputs for aligning energy portfolio with Government of India strategic priorities and the current Country Programme Document.
- Support in preparing Project proposals for Cost sharing with Public/Private Sector and other emerging financial avenues on energy.
- Explore and identify issues with government partners and funding institutions which can be further developed into full scale projects under cost sharing with Public and Private Sector.
Facilitate critical discussions with domain experts, government Ministries/ departments/ agencies and financial institutions.
Review technical documents, project concepts, proposals and provide technical input to strengthen the documents.
- Provide strategic support to all aspects of the energy portfolio through anticipatory action, proactive monitoring, data mining, production of studies and processes supporting the alignment of the portfolio targets with the UNDP Strategic Plan.
- Conduct analysis and research of information on partners and donors for the preparation of substantive briefs on possible areas of cooperation and identification of cooperation opportunities.
- Contribute to knowledge building and sharing related to the current and emerging trends in the fields of sustainable development, climate change, energy, resource efficiency.
- Contribute to the compilation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learned through relevant knowledge platforms including the UNDP Global Community of Practices related to Energy, Climate and Environment.

A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience related to energy and/or green financing.
Demonstrated experience in the areas of project development, planning, implementation, and monitoring.

This assignment is funded by JICA, therefore only former Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JICA-JOCV) who could get recommendation by JICA-JOCV Secretariat are eligible to apply. Please check your application eligibility here: JICA website.
This is a UN Volunteer assignment and eligible candidates must be 25 years of age or older.
Selection process
