You have:

• Strong analytical and research skills, particularly in conducting desk research using publicly available information.
• Experience searching organizational websites, sustainability reports, annual reports, regulatory databases, news articles, and other reputable online sources.
• Excellent attention to detail and sound judgment in selecting credible sources.
• Ability to organize large amounts of information clearly and systematically using Microsoft Excel and online search tools.
• Backgrounds in business, law, public policy, international relations, economics, sustainability, environmental, social and governance (ESG), journalism, or related fields would be an advantage.
• Strong written English skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting agreed deadlines.

Sustainability and responsible business practices have become an increasingly important component of inclusive development. Organizations across sectors play a significant role in creating employment, generating economic growth, and contributing to innovation, while also carrying responsibilities toward environmental stewardship, social impact, and good governance. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supports governments, businesses, and other stakeholders in strengthening sustainable and responsible practices that contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.

Evidence-based research is an essential component of this work. By compiling reliable and well-documented information from publicly available sources, the Online Volunteer will help strengthen the quality of background information used to support UNDP's engagement with external stakeholders.

Under the guidance of the UNDP Indonesia Business and Human Rights Specialist, the Online Volunteer will conduct structured desk research on publicly available information to support a limited sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) information mapping exercise. The assignment will involve reviewing publicly available sources, such as organizational websites, sustainability reports, annual reports, published policies, media articles, and regulatory disclosures, and compiling factual information into standardized research templates provided by UNDP. Further details on the research subjects and the research template will be shared with the selected volunteer(s) once the assignment begins.

The Online Volunteer will support the identification and organization of publicly available information relating to organizational governance, sustainability commitments, and environmental and social practices, along with other relevant background information as specified in the research template. The assignment requires careful documentation of information sources, verification of facts across multiple references where possible, and accurate completion of structured templates. The Online Volunteer is not expected to make judgments, assessments, recommendations, or conclusions, but rather to provide objective, well-organized background research to support subsequent internal review by the project team. All materials and outputs produced under this assignment should be treated as confidential, for UNDP internal use only, and should not be shared or disclosed outside UNDP, including after the assignment is completed.

The assignment is suitable for the Online Volunteers with strong analytical and research skills, particularly in conducting desk research using publicly available information. Experience searching organizational websites, sustainability reports, annual reports, regulatory databases, news articles, and other reputable online sources is highly desirable. The volunteer should demonstrate excellent attention to detail, sound judgment in selecting credible sources, and the ability to organize large amounts of information clearly and systematically using Microsoft Excel and online search tools.

• Backgrounds in business, law, public policy, international relations, economics, sustainability, environmental, social and governance (ESG), journalism, or related fields would be an advantage.
• Motivated students and early-career professionals with strong research capabilities are encouraged to apply.
• Familiarity with responsible business conduct, corporate sustainability, business and human rights, anti-corruption, or environmental and social issues would be considered an asset.
• The volunteers should possess strong written English skills, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate the ability to work independently while meeting agreed deadlines.
