Job Overview: The primary role of the Survivor Services Case Assistant is to assist the Victim Services Caseworker and Survivor of Torture Caseworker with providing comprehensive, culturally appropriate, client-centered case management services for foreign victims of crime, including completing eligibility screening and enrollment paperwork, developing service plans, educating about community services, resources, and legal rights, and helping problem solve barriers to access. This position is also responsible for assisting with administrative tasks including case notes, case file management, and data collection.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Assist in enrolling clients and determining eligibility at intake; if clients are found to be ineligible for services, provide relevant referrals. - Assist in the development of self-sufficiency plans for especially vulnerable clients, with oversight from supervisor. - Assist clients in navigating healthcare and social service systems, which may include helping clients apply for benefits and attend and schedule appointments. - Assist in mapping out community resources and making client referrals to community partners. - Assist in providing clients with extended orientation on a variety of topics such as women’s health, navigating transportation systems, and navigating physical healthcare systems at the local level. - Assist in community outreach to service providers to ensure client needs are met. - Support Survivors Services Teams in response to client crises. - Maintain up-to-date documentation in client’s case file to ensure services are properly documented throughout the client’s service period; document all services provided. - Attend relevant trainings and meetings at the local and national level. - Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area. - May train and lead the activities of volunteers and interns. - Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

- Undergraduate degree in Social Work or similar field strongly preferred; comparable related work experience may be substituted.

Work Experience:

- 1+ years of related work experience; 1 year minimum working with victims of crime or other vulnerable populations preferred. - Case management and/or victims assistance experience preferred

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

- Excellent written and spoken English skills, Spanish-bilingual ability preferred - Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented - Excellent writing and analytical skills - Public Speaking and/or presentation experience preferred - Ability to effectively communicate and work as a team member with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment - Computer literacy, data base experience preferred - Ability to work independently and be a flexible team player

Language Skills:

- Fluency in written and spoken English, bilingual ability preferred in Spanish, Dari, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French or other refugee/immigrant language used in Arizona. Cross-cultural understanding and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Certificates or Licenses:

- Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area. - In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. - May require occasional weekend and/or evening work. - Must be able to lift 35 to 50 pounds (furniture, household supplies, and food boxes).
