Responsibilities In accordance with UNRWA policy and procedures, the incumbent: - The Surveyor is responsible for land survey and topographical mapping for the building and infrastructure projects in accordance with Agency’s needs and design requirements. - The Surveyor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of survey works in the project and shall provide services to the project team. - Setting up construction sites and implementation of projects; measuring, analysing the position, shape, angle, distances and elevation of land natural features to determine land boundaries, using tape steel bands and more sophisticated equipment that use waves (light or radio). - The Surveyor will report directly to the Project Manager (PM) in full coordination with the road engineer and other projects team. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the PM, the Surveyor shall provide his/her technical expertise as required to manage and coordinate any tasks assigned works. - The Surveyor shall be responsible for submitting high quality estimation of quantities, documentation and site works that are carried out on time. - Specifically, the Surveyor shall be responsible for the following substantive tasks:

Technical tasks: - When requested, prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed; - Assist the PM in verifying the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites; - Support/review surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on legal deeds and titles; - Document the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features; - Review the calculations of heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain; - Prepare data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys; - Review the fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments; - Review the longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas, using Total station and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS); - Review the survey drawings, documents, reports including surveys of boundaries, topography, levelling and digital photographs submitted by the Contractor on site. - Participate in project team meetings, knowledge sharing sessions and site visits - Perform other tasks as directed by the Project Manager.

Competencies - Good observation skills; - Ability to work accurately and carefully; - Ability to work in a team and to maintain good relationship with all concerned; - Interesting to work outdoors; - Knowledge in utilizing the latest new surveying instruments; - Good working knowledge in utilizing of computer software and specifically recording measurement software.

Education A two years diploma from an accredited institution in land surveying or other related discipline

Work Experience A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience, related to land surveying.

Experience in AutoCAD is required

Special Notice Contract Status: Limited Duration Contract for one year; renewable appointment subject to funding confirmation. Benefits: - LDC: Band "D"/ S1 Monthly salary JD 729.70 Fils. -Contract Status: One year (Extendable) subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance of the incumbent and the continuing need for the post. -Other benefits include medical insurance and annual leave and dependency allowance (if applicable). Additional Information:: •The incumbent might be required to: - Drive in performing the job duties, thus s/he must be able and capable of driving a UN vehicle; - Work beyond regular working hours; Desirable Qualifications - Knowledge of regional practice and construction materials used in the area of operation. - Experience in construction of low-cost housing in the Near East.

Skills & Abilities: - Proficient in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), quantity surveying/contract management software and experience in handling web-based management systems is required. - Knowledge and skills in using AutoCAD is required.
