Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

The UN Reform Resolution tasks UNDP to provide countries with an “integrator function” to accelerate progress towards the SDGs by tackling multiple interlinked and interdependent development challenges. The UNDP Global Policy Network (GPN) draws on expertise globally to provide more effective responses to the complex development challenges countries face in achieving the SDGs and responding to crisis in an integrated and coherent manner. Anchored in the Crisis Bureau (CB) and the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS), the GPN has the responsibility for developing all relevant policy and guidance to support the results of UNDP’s Strategic Plan, which is aligned with the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The world faces a range of interconnected, multidimensional health and development challenges. Lack of attention to the determinants of health is a persistent threat to achieving the SDGs and the commitment to leave no one behind.

COVID-19 has affirmed that health is critical to progress across many areas of development, such as decent work and economic growth, education, nutrition, peace, justice, and strong institutions, as well as reducing inequalities. In addition to COVID-19, other complex health and development challenges persist, including the climate crisis, environmental degradation, the increasing threat of antimicrobial resistance, gaps in social protection, ongoing armed conflicts and weaknesses in governance, legal and human rights frameworks related to public health in many countries.

UNDP’s work in HIV and health is guided by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-2025, related Regional Programmes and the HIV and Health Strategy 2022–2025: Connecting the Dots - Towards a more equitable, healthier and sustainable future.

Main objectives of the meeting include: - Revitalizing the work of the HIV and health portfolio in the context of Agenda 2030, UN reform, UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-2025, and the HIV and Health Strategy 2022-2025: Connecting the Dots: Towards a More Equitable, Healthier and Sustainable Future, including on frontier issues. - Objective 2. Enhancing synergies, partnerships, advocacy, and service offerings across the HIV and health portfolio including COs, Regional Bureaus and Hubs, and the GPN with a particular focus on strengthened synergies to the UNDP-Global Fund partnership. - Objective 3. Strengthening and unlocking the potential of the 3 key enablers to scale development impact in countries for improved health outcomes including 1. Digitalization and data 2. Strategic innovation and 3. Development financing. - Objective 4. Exploring opportunities for resource mobilization in line with the HIV and Health Strategy 2022-2025: Connecting the Dots: Towards a More Equitable, Healthier and Sustainable Future.
