The online volunteers will support the work of the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative, a component of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)’s Global Programme for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration (https://www.unodc.org/dohadeclaration/index.html). In particular, they will support the rolle-out of E4J’s University Module Series on nine rule of law related topics (https://www.unodc.org/e4j/en/tertiary/index.html) by making these resources available to a multilingual, global audience of lecturers. In addition to English, the university modules have been translated into the UN’s five official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) plus Portuguese. The online volunteers’ main task will be to prepare webpages for selected modules in one or more of these languages which will be created in UNODC’s website content management system. The volunteer will be expected to upload 2 modules/week (approximately 40 web pages).

The E4J initiative (www.unodc.org/e4j) was developed as a result the adoption of the Doha Declaration by the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2015. The Declaration recognizes the fundamental importance of universal education for children and youth, for the prevention of crime, terrorism and corruption, as well as to promote sustainable development. E4J aims at empowering the next generation to become socially responsible global citizens with a sound moral and ethical compass who are prepared to tackle the world’s challenges related to the rule of law. It seeks to prevent crime, promote a culture of lawfulness, help educators teach on rule of law issues and encourage students to actively engage in their communities and future professions in this regard. To achieve these objectives, different age-appropriate educational tools and activities for the primary, secondary and tertiary education levels have been developed by E4J together with partners. The E4J team is now looking for online volunteers to support the expansion of the multilingual content of the initiative’s website to reach a worldwide audience.
