UNDP has been managing Global Fund grants as Principal Recipient in Afghanistan since 2015, supporting the national HIV, TB, and malaria responses as well as health systems strengthening activities, and more recently the COVID-19 response, across 34 provinces. The multiple grants were consolidated into one combined grant from 1 October 2021 – 31 December 2023, with an approved amount of US$79 million. UNDP is working with the Ministry of Public Health, other UN agencies (eg WHO, UNODC, UNAIDS, etc), as well as 22 non-governmental organizations in country.

This assignment will relate to providing direct support to the UNDP Global Fund PMU in Afghanistan.

• Help develop, finalize and edit country reporting. • Monitor, analyze, synthesize and consolidate developments, press clippings and reports with regards to the relevant global policy frameworks and developments. • Develop reports or short articles on lessons learned and recommendations on good practices in relation to GF programming in Afghanistan. • Research, collect, analyze and edit documents related to HIV, TB, malaria grant implementation. • Participate in partner meetings. • Help design and edit reports. • Help prepare presentations and documents for internal and external use.

The Online Volunteers are expected to have some experience with desk research, analyses of policy environment/political economy, and report writing in English. Experience and/or interest in health issues are considered assets.
