Duties and Responsibilities RCO develops a monthly Socioeconomic report on main trends and news related to the economic and social developments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The primary responsibility of the consultant is to compile a comprehensive monthly socioeconomic report that provides insights into the current state of affairs and emerging trends within the country. - Monitor News and Developments: Regularly monitor various news sources, including newspapers, online publications, government reports, and reputable websites, to stay updated on the latest socioeconomic developments in KSA. Keep track of economic indicators, social policies, legislative changes, and emerging trends that could impact the country's socioeconomic landscape. - Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research to gather relevant data and information on a wide range of socioeconomic topics, such as economic growth, employment rates, poverty levels, education, healthcare, and more. Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and potential cause-and-effect relationships, providing context and insights to your monthly report - Report Writing: Compile a monthly socioeconomic report that presents a well-structured and concise overview of the current economic and social conditions in KSA. Craft engaging narratives that translate complex data and developments into easily understandable insights for a diverse audience. - Data Visualization: Utilize data visualization tools to create charts, graphs, and infographics that enhance the presentation of statistical information in your reports. Ensure that visual elements are accurate, clear, and contribute to the overall understanding of the socioeconomic trends. - Fact-Checking and Verification: Verify the accuracy and reliability of information before including it in your report, ensuring that all data is properly sourced and referenced. Cross-reference data from multiple sources to maintain a high level of credibility in your reporting.

Qualifications/special skills A master's degree or equivalent in Economics, Statistics, Social Science or any other related field is required. A Ph. D. is desirable.

All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. a minimum of two years of relevant professional or academic (during PhD studies for instance) experience in carrying out social, economic and environmental research, policy and analytical work, and other research relevant to the SDGs is required. Experience in interpreting economic and social data, identifying trends, and drawing meaningful conclusions from complex information is required. Understanding of KSA’s developmental challenges, policy priorities and national plans is required.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, fluency in English is required. Fluency in Arabic is desirable.
