The Recruitment Services Unit (RSU) of the Human Resources Management Section is undertaking a Strategic Workforce Planning Initiative for the Subregional Office for North Africa (SRO-NA). The initiative aims to ensure that job profiles remain aligned with organizational priorities, accurately reflect current responsibilities, and support effective workforce planning and position management.
The Online Volunteer will contribute to this effort by supporting the review and analysis of existing job descriptions and assisting in the preparation of a consolidated report containing recommendations for updating job profiles and supporting future job classification exercises. Through this assignment, the Online Volunteer will gain practical exposure to UN human resources management, job design, workforce planning, and classification methodologies.
We are looking for one Online Volunteer who, under the supervision of the Chief of the Recruitment Services Unit (HRMS), will support the review of job profiles and preparation of a consolidated classification report for the SRO-NA Strategic Workforce Planning Initiative.
The Online Volunteer will be asked to:
Review existing job descriptions and compare them against current functions and organizational requirements; Identify job descriptions that require revision or updating; Draft revised job descriptions using the United Nations Master Standard and relevant Generic Job Profiles (GJPs) as reference; Compile supporting documentation required for job evaluation and classification review; Analyze the alignment of job profiles with the organizational structure and evolving functional requirements; Consolidate findings, observations, and recommendations into a final report.
The Online Volunteer will prepare and submit one Consolidated Job Profile Review and Classification Report, which will include:
• An inventory of all job descriptions reviewed; • Draft revised job descriptions, where required; • Supporting documentation for position management and classification review; • Observations on the alignment of job profiles with organizational functions and strategic priorities; • Recommendations for updating job descriptions in support of the Strategic Workforce Planning Initiative.
