Conduct research and review environmental policy frameworks
You have:
- Independent research skills (using Google Scholar) and proper referencing skills necessary.
- Experience with qualitative research and modelling is highly desirable.
- Experience with design (Adobe or similar) is considered an asset but not necessary.
- Experience with ArcGIS Online would be considered an asset but not necessary.
- Ability to synthesize complex documents in a concise manner without plagiarism.

The volunteer will be tasked to work one day per week (during Monday-Friday) to conduct research and review of environmental policy frameworks for national State of the Forests reporting. The draft of the report and background documentation will be provided to the volunteer, who will then perform a secondary independent literature review to develop an analysis of entry points for environmental governance. Other research tasks could be assigned, such as investigating species protection in international frameworks. Qualitative research skills or a background in economics modelling highly desirable. The output will be a concise document which will feed into the final report structure for publication later in 2021.

The Crisis Management Branch at UN Environment supports countries respond and recover from crisis situations and enhance resilience to future conflicts and disasters. This involves assisting countries in conducting baseline environmental assessments in order to take data-driven decisions for sustainable development. The volunteer's contribution will be used in a report, which will be published online and in print. The volunteer will receive credit for their contribution and a letter of support for future volunteer positions.
