Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

OHCHR's field presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) monitors and documents human rights conditions in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The office produces a continuous flow of public statements, press releases, reports, and thematic publications that are disseminated to media, UN partners, Member States, and civil society.

Maintaining a record of all released material, supporting a well-maintained digital archive and the development of a website, as well as tracking the reach and pickup of these outputs are essential factors for assessing communications impact, informing advocacy, and maintaining an institutional record of the office's public positioning. This role supports the Public Information team in systematically managing and monitoring that information.

The Online Volunteer will support OHCHR OPT's communications function by maintaining an organised, up-to-date record of all public outputs and tracking how those outputs are cited and covered following their release, as well as supporting the content migration to office’s website.

Under the supervision of the Spokesperson, the Online Volunteer will: • Maintain and update a structured log of all OHCHR OPT public statements, press releases, and reports, including metadata such as date, topic, URL, and language versions; • Monitor media pickups following each release, tracking citations by outlet, journalist, and geography using agreed open source monitoring tools and sources; • Compile and submit a standardised post-release citation report within 48 hours of each publication; • Flag any significant misquotations, misattributions, or contextual distortions identified during monitoring; • Support content migration to and launch of the field office’s website;

The volunteers are expected to deliver the following: - Week 2: Structured statements log (template agreed with supervisor), - Within 48 hours of first monitored release: First post-release citation report, - Updated within 5 working days of each release: Cumulative sources database - Ongoing throughout assignment, Content database ready for web migration
- Final week of assignment: End-of-assignment handover note
