We are looking for technology volunteers to help us develop our organization’s website. The volunteer is required to look over the website functionality by providing technical support for the web based systems and tools used by the organization. He/she will provide support with ticket solving involving CMS functionality, Social Networks integration with CMS and other web systems supported by the Technology Group. Research and deployment of new web systems and migration - Components, modules, plugins or addons updates for Content Managers and other web systems. - Minor updates for base or core systems. - Web systems backupsASS. - Web systems migrations and restores. - Research and deployment of new web systems. - Knowledge documentation projects. - User manual and training projects. The volunteer also needs to attend meetings as scheduled using Google, respond to emails and support teamwork.

    Save the Water™ is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct scientific water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. Our vision is "Contamination free, healthy water for all". Save the Water™ is seeking a volunteer to help increase the visibility of the website and its proper functioning. This role will require a proactive technology enthusiast who would actively look for any web technology that can be improved and implemented. He/She will provide the technological support needed for the smooth functioning of the web based tools and systems used by the organization. He/she will support in research and deployment of new components, modules, plugins or addons for Content Managers and other web systems. The volunteer must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively.

  • 1-5 hours per week / 24 weeks

    The volunteer must be willing to attend virtual meetings in EST Timezone and be responsive to emails within 36 hours. Associates degree completed or equivalent work experience (6 months to 1-year full time paid/non - profit). Experience using and understanding configuration on Apache HTTP server, PHP, MySQL and knowledge of Free and open source software, FTP, Email/SMTP, Linux is required. Experience installing, configuring and administering CMS like Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress or Typo3 is a plus.
