The selected volunteers are expected to engage in the tasks such as conducting geospatial analysis, creating maps, infographics, and other cartographic products using software such as ArcGIS or QGIS. GIS use in development contexts will be examined and GIS integration into Emergency Management Process will be prioritized.
SDG AI Lab will support the volunteer as needed, at least with a weekly check-in via Skype and maintain connections through MS Teams and GitHub repository. The Volunteer will work under the coordination of the Technical Specialist of IICPSD.
The online volunteer will participate in the projects applying GIS techniques in the context of Sustainable Development Goals under the UNDP priority areas such as ending poverty, democratic governance and peace building, climate action and disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.
Bachelor’s in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Data Management, Cartography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Knowledge of the technical aspects of geographical data management and utilization. Familiarity with coordinate geometry, data conversion and validation, spatial analysis and visualization. Working knowledge of GIS software.
