The Development, Economic and Social Issues Branch (DESIB) of OHCHR is looking for Online Volunteers with social media and communication backgrounds and expertise to promote DESIB's work via social media platforms and to increase visibility in an effort to raise awareness and to engage with different stakeholders such as policymakers, civil society, and with the general public.

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is looking for Online Volunteers to help support the advancement of its social media pages and communications strategies concerning the projects and varied initiatives of the Development, Economic and Social Issues Branch (DESIB).

The volunteers will gain understanding and awareness of the several initiatives undertaken by the Branch. They will contribute to the Branch by communicating and sharing DESIB’s initiatives with wider audiences. the volunteers will post and share key information on past, current, and upcoming events, press releases, official statements, interviews, and multimedia through the main social media platform, with the aim of raising awareness and engaging the public in the Office's mandate, mission, and goals, and initiatives.

The volunteers will be responsible for increasing the volume of social media following to help implement greater, better, and informed outreach and advocacy on the Office and DESIB's initiatives. They will make the best use of their social media connections and network, and implement and monitor the successful rollout of the social media and communication strategy. The volunteers will report to their supervisor on the outcomes, improvements, and deliverables of the social media strategy.

We will have five volunteers collaborating in this session. The roles will be as follows: Online Volunteer (OV) 1 - will design a bi-weekly social media calendar based on human rights events around the world. Throughout the assignment, there would be 6 social media calendars designed with post descriptions, reels, and video ideas. The aim is to have two posts per week. OV 2 - Will create the visual content, so mainly graphic design skills. They will create posts, logos, cover photos using Canva. OV 3 - Will create video content, that can be done with themself being featured or using video editing software such as Canva, Captions etc. This video content will also be on our TikTok account every week. This online volunteer will also be the Manager of the TikTok account. Great knowledge of TikTok is an asset. OV 4 - Will be the volunteer who posts all of the content on our feed and manages our social media engagement. They will collect all content from other OVs, and post the content on social media on Facebook and Instagram. OV 5 - Will act like a PR Officer, reaching out to influencers who are passionate about human rights work and create collaboration opportunities. By the end of the assignment, we aim to partner with 4 influencers. This online volunteer will also manage the human rights music playlist that the OHCHR is curating.

Candidates need to be fluent in English and one other UN Official language. Experience in promotion, marketing, social media communication, and graphic design is an asset.
