This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Adviser, Adolescent Development & Participation, or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Adolescent Development & Participation will:

  • Support the Adolescent Development and Participation section with the implementation of the Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) on adolescent participation in institutional settings through required research and consultations with staff and stakeholders
  • Develop a six-monthly ADAP newsletter
  • Organize and update UNICEF’s sharepoint
  • Periodic collation of quantitative and qualitative data on adolescents for programme support
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Required Education Level: Master's degree

Required Experience: 5 years

Experience remark

  • Masters Degree in development studies or governance, with a particular focus on youth development
  • At least 5 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in adolescent and youth development and participation, good governance, or other relevant programmes; experience with creating interfaces among adolescents/youth and government institutions is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
  • Knowledge on adolescent and youth development, and nuanced understanding of adolescent and youth participation
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
