The Emergency Locust Response Project (ELRP) is a government project funded by World Bank and implemented by UNFAO, building the resilience of farmers, pastoralists and the most vulnerable households affected by the Desert Locust (DL) invasions and facing severe food insecurity in South Sudan. UNFAO/SS has been working closely with authorities, partners and the South Sudanese population to respond to DL invasions since 2020 while supporting agriculture sector recovery, resilience, rehabilitation and development.

We are looking for the support of one creative volunteer to help us develop a booklet on success stories collected from different project locations. The Emergency Locust Response Project (ELRP) is a government project funded by the World Bank and implemented by UNFAO, building the resilience of farmers, pastoralists, and the most vulnerable households affected by Desert Locust (DL) invasions and facing severe food insecurity in South Sudan. UNFAO/SS has been working closely with authorities, partners, and the South Sudanese population to respond to DL invasions since 2020 while supporting agriculture sector recovery, resilience, rehabilitation, and development. The project successfully launched and created an impact on the daily life of the community people. To showcase the impact of the project on the donor, the project manager intended to develop a success story booklet to validate the interventions undertaken. Therefore, almost 20-25 stories under the three different components of the project have been collected, drafted, and reviewed.

The selected online volunteer, under the supervision and guidance of the Programme Specialist, ELRP project, will be supported by:

  • Proven writing and research experiences, ability to understand the development project and jargon wards

  • Ability to draft new write-ups or stories that represent the project interventions

  • Developing flyers on the life cycle of desert locusts and the way of prevention.

  • Developing a booklet on the success stories, should have the ability to create a standard write-up from the stories collected from the direct beneficiaries in the field.

  • Providing support in the development of draft stories, project fact sheets, briefing notes, content creation, and other communication materials to be requested.

  • Monitoring and analyzing communication metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the write-up.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Collaborating with other teams within FAO and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of communication efforts.

  • Should must have knowledge of current graphic design software to produce graphic art and visual materials for the publication of the success story, flyer, etc.

The selected Online Volunteer will be provided with information and material relevant and necessary to perform the task.

Requirements Competencies:
