This is a UNV National Expert contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Expert contracts.

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. This UNV Ex[pert will support the set-up of a concrete learning and development and research/documentation strategy at UNICEF South Asia Regional Office (ROSA) Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP) Section.

The predominant support will be for a strategy and commencement of implementation for a marketing plan for the Adolescent Development and Participation MOOC on adult leadership for adolescent participation in institutional settings. This predominantly video-based solution for enhancing capacities to develop and implement participation policies, mechanisms and strategies has been developed in collaboration with adolescents, public functionaries, CSO representatives and UNICEF staff.

In addition to this support, the UNV Expert will also develop a strategy to disseminate research and documentation among ADAP practitioners across the region. Maintaining and enhancing a state of the art ADAP Sharepoint, and delivering on easy to access ADAP newsletters will be a key task that connects this work across the core areas of learning and development.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Adviser, Adolescent Development and Participation or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Adolescent Development and Participation will:

• Develop and implement a strategy for the dissemination of the Massive Open Online Course on adolescent participation in institutional settings. • Develop and implement a learning dissemination strategy through production of bimonthly newsletters (2) and enhancing a state-of-the-art ADAP Sharepoint. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day). • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country. • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities. • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers. • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high quality support rendered to UNICEF and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:

• Collaboration with country staff on marketing of MOOC and monitoring of its use • Obtain and document systematically feedback on the benefits and challenges of the MOOC • Develop two newsletters for Q 3 and 4 • Update and enhance ADAP Sharepoint design and use • Periodic submission of analyzed quantitative and qualitative data on adolescent wellbeing • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

the national and/or international level in international development, development studies, adolescent and youth development and participation, good governance, or other relevant programmes; experience with:

creating interfaces among adolescents/youth and government institutions is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; Knowledge on adolescent and youth development, and nuanced understanding of adolescent and youth participation; Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skill; Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; Sound security awareness; Have affinity with or interest in child and adolescent rights, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System

Remote work

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.
