How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Supply & Logistics Manager, you will administer the supply operations of a relatively simple nature and limited impact, requiring basic professional technical expertise in support of operations and programme objectives. You will be responsible for effective planning, contracting, procurement, and delivery, , in support of the Country Programmes and operations.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  1. Provide rapid and relevant assistance and support to evolving procurement needs (goods and services) and situations facing children and families, including emergency situations, with a priority on achieving value for money.
  2. Implement sound, accurate contract management systems, procedures and documentation as well as regular, accurate reporting to maintain the highest level of integrity, standards and accountability.
  3. Support UNICEF as well as partners’ capacity-building in order to enhance efficient, effective and timely service delivery,
  4. Conduct and monitor effective contracting for services at local, regional and/or offshore levels, with a goal to attain lowest cost without sacrificing quality as applicable.
  5. Collaboration and Partnership with stakeholders to develop close collaboration with through involvement in programme design, planning, and preparation for implementation of supply components as well as monitoring and evaluation.
  6. Support Implementation of the annual work plan for the Supply team; assist in determining priorities/targets and performance measurements and monitoring work progress to ensure that results are achieved according to schedule and performance standards.
  7. Supervise and coach team members, ensure timely performance management of staff.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have the below requirement:

    1. Education****:

University degree in Business Administration, Management, International Economics, Engineering, International Development, Contract/commercial Law or in directly related areas of specialization, including credited courses in supply, logistics, purchasing or contracting. Or, a recognized qualification in procurement and contracting.

Educational qualification in relevant areas (transport or logistics operations/management, supply change management, etc.)

    1. Work Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience in the field of procurement and contracting for services is required.

(Both national and international work experience in supply, purchasing, contracting and/or other related fields.)

  • Work experience in emergency duty station is an asset
  • Experience in supervising and directing a procurement team is and an asset.
    1. Skills (below skills are additional assets for the incumbent):
  • Good analytical skill and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to manage and monitor the effective use of financial and material resources.
  • Ability to supervise and direct a team of professional and support staff.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
  • Fast learner, adapts and responds to change, tolerates ambiguity.
  • Ability to contribute to formulation of strategies and policies.
  • Good knowledge of latest developments and technology in supply chain management.
  • Good understanding of supply chain processes, from Programme needs assessment, through planning, procurement and contracting, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of, public procurement principles, financial and legal aspects of supply chain issues, ethics and risk management of supply chain operations.
    1. Language Proficiency:

Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
