The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs founded in Denmark in 1956. DRC has provided humanitarian assistance to people in need in Myanmar since 2009. DRC is currently engaged in humanitarian response in Rakhine, Kachin, and Northern Shan. In 2012, waves of inter-communal violence swept through Rakhine, forcing approximately 140,000 persons to flee their homes and take refuge in IDP camps spread across the state. DRC activities target these IDPs, as well as other local vulnerable populations such as host villages and isolated villages. DRC implements a multi-sector response, including Camp Management, GBV, Child Protection, General Protection, Economic Recovery, and WASH activities.

DRC Myanmar in Rakhine State is funded by ECHO, SDC, DANIDA, DFAT, USAID, SIDA and UN agencies, including UNHCR, UNICEF, UNOPS and UNFPA.

To strengthen DRC’s Programme in Rakhine State, DRC is looking for a highly motivated and capable candidate to fill the position of

Supply Chain Team Leader (1 Post)

Duty Station : Sittwe Office, Rakhine State

Reports to : Supply Chain Manager

Direct report for : Warehouse and Fleet Staffs

Overall purpose of the role:

  • Supervise members in team.
  • Deliver technical support and guidance to team.
  • Responsible for warehousing, transportation of good and people, vehicle fleet management, facilities management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Management

  • Lead and manage the team (including people planning, performance, well-being and development)
  • Ensure effective planning and quality implementation of the sector/support activities.
  • Ensure daily monitoring of area.
  • Assess the daily quality of the service provided.
  • Provide technical support and input.
  • Reporting as per required by his / her line manager.

Support and administration

  • Ensuring all logistics processes are in line with DRC Operations Handbook
  • Effective and efficient support to programs’ needs.
  • Develop and maintain relevant data base.
  • Maintaining the assets list.
  • Weekly and monthly status reports
  • Warehouse management, including reporting and alert mechanism to program staff.
  • Assist in recruitment, training and capacity building of the logistics team under his / her supervision.
  • Coordination of program staff to ensure logistics involvement in the whole program cycle.
  • Ensure that all logistics specific donor rules and policies are understood and respected.
  • Vehicle fleet management
  • Optimize all logistics operations to increase cost effectiveness.
  • Fixed asset management
  • Ensure proper operation of DRC Dynamics ERP supply chain system by staff under his / her supervision.
  • Apply report and data analytics to improve supply chain operation in area of concern.

As Team Leader the post-holder is responsible for the following:

  • For people management of employees, working in the same area of work.
  • Accountable for ensuring that agreed work plans and tasks set by the next-level up Manager are implemented on time.
  • Initiating the hiring and firing of employees and conducting performance appraisals are permitted at this level but are closely overseen by the next -level manager. Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as requested by the Manager.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree and certificate in logistics and/ or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in humanitarian logistics, procurement, transport and distribution, warehousing, and stock management
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee protection working for an international NGO, UN agency, relevant ministry, or local authority. Management experience at a mid-level, is desirable.
  • Proven management skills and a competence in people management
  • Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good understanding of the general logistics (i.e., warehousing, fleet management, etc.) rules and regulations of major international donors
  • Full professional proficiency in English.

We Offer:

  • Starting date of employment: As Soon As Possible.
  • Contract length: Regular DRC staff contract including a probation period of 3 months with possible extension based on performance and project funding.
  • Salary: Competitive salary according to DRC Myanmar salary scale.
