Ensure accurate supply chain forecasting and efficient planning
You have:
- Typically six to nine years’ overall professional experience.
- Experience in supply chain management.
- Experience in planning and forecasting.
- University degree or equivalent experience.
- Good command of English or French.
- Computer proficiency and ability to run specialized software.
Purpose
The Supply Chain Planner ensures that the future demand needs of the requesting departments are available in the JD Edwards software system by uploading forecasts. S/he sees to it that all forecast inputs are processed and that goods sourcing meets demand in the most efficient and effective way.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Monitors material resource planning (MRP) suggestions, analyses supply and demand, and makes appropriate recommendations to improve forecasting accuracy.
- Decides on order fulfilment based on the delegation’s stocking strategy per product category, and in accordance with the priorities identified together with the requesting departments and logistics team, to ensure the most effective and efficient inventory management.
- Sets and updates the MRP system parameters and item settings in the JD Edwards software.
- Is responsible for the delegation’s consolidated demand figure; proposes and monitors buffer stock based on own analysis. Maintains the contingency stock items list in line with delegation policy.
- Is the logistics focal point in the delegation’s demand planning process.
- Analyses items’ historical behaviour and forecast accuracy, and provides requesting departments with the results, main trends and deviations.
- Supports focal points within the requesting departments (e.g. Health Unit, Water and Habitat Unit) in making and correcting their monthly forecasts. Additional responsibilities for the Logistics Support Centre Supply Chain Planner:
- Consolidates, analyses and discusses all collaborative demand planning in the region with the Logistics Desk Manager and the Supply Chain Coordinator.
- Is part of the global planning network, helping to build and improve demand planning practice across the organization.
- Ensures that risks are mitigated by performing the controls assigned to his/her role as described in the Logistics Risk and Control Matrix

- Geographic remit: country-level, or regional for the Logistics Support Centre.
Relationships
- Internally, interacts with the Supply Chain Coordinator, the delegation’s Buyers, warehousing and transport staff, the global planning network and Supply Chain Officers.
- Has no external relationships.
Certifications / Education required
- University degree or equivalent experience.
- Additional vocational training in health sciences an asset.
- Computer proficiency and ability to run specialized software.
- Good command of English or French.
- Good command of an enterprise resource planning system.
