The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international humanitarian organization founded in Denmark in 1956. DRC implements relief and development activities in more than 30 countries throughout the world, assisting more than 1.5 million people of different ethnicities and religions. DRC is a non-governmental, non-political and non-religious organization – and in DRC, people’s right to a life with dignity takes precedence over politics and principles. DRC has been operating in Myanmar since May 2009 and in Rakhine State since 2010, responding to the humanitarian needs in the aftermath of the Cyclone Giri. DRC has recently expanded its programme providing shelter, WASH, NFIs, livelihood support and community assistance to the people affected by the June and October 2012 events in Rakhine State. DRC Myanmar in Rakhine State is funded by ECHO, SDC, DFAT, USAID and UN agencies, including UNHCR, UNICEF and UNFPA.

To strengthen DRC’s Programme in Rakhine State, DRC is looking for highly motivated and capable candidates to fill the position of

Supply Chain Officer (1 Post)

Duty Station : Sittwe Office, Rakhine State

Reports to : Supply Chain Team Leader-Logistics Team Leader

Overall purpose of the role:

Responsible for all asset management, warehousing, transportation of goods and general logistics support to the programme

Geographic scope: Area (Rakhine)

This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The role contributes to the development of area strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to base operations.

Specific duties and responsibilities

Support and Administration:

  • Ensuring all the warehousing and logistics functions are in line with DRC Operations Handbook
  • Effective and efficient support to programs’ needs timely reporting of stock reports and other logistics reports
  • Maintaining and managing the assets register and Stock Reports for Rakhine
  • Provision of timely monthly status reports for warehouse and assets
  • Warehouse management, including reporting and alert mechanism to program staff.
  • Assist in recruitment, training and capacity building of the logistics team
  • Working closely with the procurement/program teams to ensure proper documents for deliveries are shared with warehouse assistants
  • Plan and arrange for bi-annual/annual assets/GPE verification and physical stock counts for all offices MGW and STW
  • Participate in information gathering for disposal of assets
  • Optimize all logistics operations to increase cost effectiveness including setting up longer term supply contracts
  • Organizing & leading physical transportation from starting point to ending point till final payment clearances
  • Fixed asset management
  • Ensure DRC supplier due diligence is effective in the relevant context
  • Correctly apply ERP supply chain processes
  • Deputize the Supply Chain Team leader

*Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as requested by the Team Leader & Supply Chain Manager.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in humanitarian logistics, procurement, transport and distribution, warehousing, and assets management
  • Good understanding of the logistics, warehouse rules and regulations of major international donors
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Relevant university degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management or equivalent professional qualification
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Fluency in local language

We Offer:

  • Starting date of employment: August 2022.
  • Contract length: DRC’s fixed term employment contract includes a probation period of 3 months. Renewables depend on both funding and performance.
  • Salary: Competitive salary according to DRC Myanmar salary scale.
