Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the Enabling Unit of the Enabling and Outreach Service (EOS), Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) within the Department of Operational Support (DOS).

The Department of Operational Support was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services, and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, Offices Away from Headquarters, field missions, and Regional Commissions. The Office of Supply Chain Management includes the Office of the Assistant Secretary-General for Supply Chain Management, the Logistics Division, the Procurement Division, Uniformed Capabilities Support Division, Global Service Centre, Aviation Safety Section and the Enabling and Outreach Service.

The EOS provides supply chain enabling services through developing performance management metrics, reporting, operational guidance, as well as ensuring operational sustainment and continuous improvements for Umoja supply chain management system functionalities for the United Nations (UN) Secretariat globally.

The incumbent reports to the Team Leader of the Enabling Unit.

Responsibilities

Within limits of delegated authority, the Business Intelligence Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

• Monitors key indicators and provides information to Team Leader of the Enabling Unit to analyze the Supply Chain performance against established benchmarks and performance targets. Collects and provides data for the preparation of performance, operational, audit, or other reports as assigned by the team leader based on the established key performance indicators, matrixes, corporate targets, and action plans. • Provides support with the development of process-specific and mission-specific key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for Business Intelligence (BI) by analyzing business processes and process improvement opportunities. Assists with the application of performance data to various business units and performance areas. • Assists in coordinating and conducting timely collection of information on supply chain processes, performance and associated root cause analysis for underperformance which help drive business results and enable the decision making process. Performs quality assurance checks for data accuracy, update of performance reports and dashboards to help ensure consistent quality throughout the business process. • Contributes to the preparation of data sets, being responsible for the acquisition and initial cleaning of data from primary and secondary data systems and documents data sets used. Assists in development of data visualization to derive actionable intelligence. • Assists in the operationalization of Supply Chain management concepts, implementation instructions on Supply Chain self-assessment, and performance reporting. Assists in the validation of the data and establishment of targets. • Contributes to the creation and maintenance of databases. Contributes to data collection projects, products, tools, and processes to extend the capabilities of client offices. Assists with the collection of information on business processes and improvement opportunities/targets from various stakeholders and process owners to enable team leader of the Enabling Unit to define specific business requirements for the end-to-end Supply Chain performance management. • Assists with the development and promulgation of Business Intelligence Guidance and Procedures by keeping records and information to ensure that robust practices are in place. • Performs other duties, as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification

Professional certification in supply chain (CSCP), Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR-P), MCIPS, or equivalent is desirable.

Work Experience

• A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, information technology or related area is required.

• Experience working with Excel (for reporting and data validation using features such as pivot, lookups, formulas, etc.) and Data Base Management (SQL Server) is required.

• Experience in using data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI or SAP Analysis Cloud is required.

• Experience in supply chain performance management is desirable.

• Experience in providing logistics and supply chain support services in a complex, volatile, conflict or post-conflict environment is desirable.

• Experience with Business Intelligence platforms such as SAP Business Objects is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
