You have:
- High School Diploma required; First degree in Environmental Engineering is highly desirable.
- Two years of related experience in working with UN or international organizations is desirable.
- Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic is required.
- Understanding of climate change and environmental issues of the region is an asset.
Result of Service Contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of the subprogramme by providing technical and administrative support to the subprogramme and mainly to “Enabling Activities for the Preparation of the Second National Communications and Biennial Update Report under the United Nations framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)”.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Organizational Setting, Purpose, and Objective: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Regional Office for West Asia delivers advisory services and capacity building support to countries to achieve environment and sustainable development objectives.”
The Individual Contractor will provide part time technical and programmatic support to the subprogramme operations, especially in the implementation of “Enabling Activities for the Preparation of the Second National Communications and Biennial Update Report under the United Nations framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Iraq”. The Individual Contractor will support in planning, monitoring, and reporting activities. This position is located in the Regional Office for West Asia in Beirut, Lebanon. The Individual Contractor will report to the regional coordinator for Climate Change.
2. Duties and Responsibilities: The Individual Contractor will carry out, inter alia, the following duties & responsibilities: o Track and screen assigned project activities and deliverables o Carry out regular follow-up and monitoring of implementation activities o Ensure timely preparation and submission of required reports, including progress and expenditure reports, as specified above o Maintain knowledge and records management system to support implementation of the assigned projects. o Support in the development of required technical reports for submission to UNEP’s Coordination Units o Assist in preparing the reporting requirements (semi-annual/annual) reports as per donor agreements o Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications/special skills High School Diploma. First degree university in Environmental Engineering is highly desirable. Two-year related experience in working with other UN system entities or any other international organization is desirable Understanding of the climate change and environment related issues of the region is an asset
Languages Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic are required.
