DRC’s Programme Innovation and Business Engagement Team (PIBE) works to promote innovation throughout the organization and develop strategic partnerships for the achievement of DRC’s objectives, cf. Strategy 2025. We are a small and dynamic team, and we work with a wide range of colleagues in HQ and across our regional offices and country programmes. We engage with external partners incl. private sector and are key in DRCs effort to source new inspiration, knowledge, partnerships and opportunities for people affected by forced displacement. This position will mainly support DRC’s efforts on the global youth agenda, working to enhance meaningful participation and sustainable futures for the largest generation of young people in history.

About the position

The student worker will support the coordination of key innovation projects in DRC, mainly focused on implementing DRC’s Youth Strategy: Creating Sustainable Futures with and for young people affected by displacement and conflict. This is framed in three main tracks: 1) Facilitating and sustaining a network of large NGO’s working to enhance systemic inclusion of young people and coordinate events, campaigns and communications is central. 2) Support young people’s access to policy and decision-making forums, at local, national and global level. 3) Co-develop and support youth focused programmes in DRC country offices and regions.

****Responsibilities****

The student worker will be an integral part of the team, supporting innovation at large and focusing on young people specifically. Tasks include coordination, communication, research and administration related to implementation of DRC’s youth strategy. Network facilitation and support to collaborative efforts of organisations towards e.g. the Global Refugee Forum is central.

Key tasks include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Facilitate communication with partner organisations and consultants
  • Assist in preparing and facilitating meetings, workshops and external events
  • Support the recording and publishing of our youth podcast series and making it broadly accessible
  • Administration of activities with and for young people in DRC country programmes
  • Support meaningful participation of young people in the Global Refugee Forum processes
  • Manage website development for the DRC Youth activities

About you

We imagine that your studies focus on issues related to the above, however we are glad to be challenged by other academic approaches. All employees should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity.

It is key that you:

  • have an interest in humanitarian assistance and development, international relations and refugee issues,

  • have knowledge and/or experience in working with and for young people in humanitarian action, perhaps from volunteering, being part of a youth organization or the like

  • have some experience in creating and implementing events with multiple stakeholders, e.g. from another field of work
  • are fluent in written and spoken English – if you have language skills in Arabic, French or other major languages that is an asset
  • possess strong IT skills and competent navigation on digital platforms, including community outreach and engagement
  • have experience in drafting articles, blog posts, SoMe and web content
  • have great interpersonal and communication skills
  • have minimum one year left of your university studies and are enrolled in university

****What we offer****

Contract length: One year with potential extension subject to funding.

Workplace: Borgergade 10, 1300 Copenhagen.

Start date: 28 August 2023.

Working hours: 15 hours per week with a high degree of flexibility to plan according to exams, etc.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and HK. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.

University enrollment is a precondition for the position.

Please note that you need to have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa) in order to be considered for this role.
