The Division for Effectiveness, Knowledge and Learning is all about evidence; it’s analysis, documentation, and sharing.
We host global advisors for programme results and monitoring, for data collection and data analysis, for accountability to people, aid transparency, and evaluation. Our technical expertise covers the full spectrum of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL). We provide technical support to DRC’s operations and build capacity of staff in these areas. We manage the evaluation function for DRC, and lead on DRC’s commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI).
Through our work we contribute to DRC’s programmes to be effective, and we collect and share evidence of DRC’s effectiveness, building knowledge. We steer organisational learning, through global processes and support to learning in field operations.
About the job
We need dedicated support – for now up to the end of the year – for two of our main flagship initiatives, the MEAL Compliance Self Check and the MEAL Global Annual Network Event. You will work independently, under our guidance, be responsible for the support and coordination of the MEAL Compliance Self Check, a global survey of staff that provides an overview of best practice being implemented across DRC operations and outlines future ambitions for respective operations. You will also be instrumental in the coordination and implementation of the Global MEAL Network event, an annual virtual event where MEAL practitioners across DRC discuss, explore and evaluate key trends within the MEAL Network and beyond over a 3-day online event. Specifically, we need you to help us with:
• Support in the collecting, analysis, and presentation of the findings from the MEAL Compliance Self Check 2023
• Work in close collaboration with Business Intelligence, IT and MEAL colleagues to conduct analysis of the data gathered
• Provide support before and during the Global MEAL Network event.
• Support other relevant processes in the division as directed
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to either be available part-time or be enrolled in a relevant education programme to be eligible to work as a student assistant (15 or 20 hours per week). All employees should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity.
Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
• Practical experience with data sets and their usage typical of an International NGO
• Interest in MEAL concepts and the role of evidence in humanitarian contexts
• Ability to work independently and to form good working relationships with colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds
• Advanced level of knowledge in Microsoft Excel
Desired:
• Experience or interest in Microsoft Power Apps
• Demonstrated abilities in problem solving as well as taking a flexible and innovative approach to working
• Highly motivated and hard working with strong attention to detail
We offer
Contract length: 4 months with a possibility of extension in 2024 (if funding permits)
Work place: In our offices at Borgergade 10 in 1300 Copenhagen, in a dynamic and friendly team environment
Start date: 1st September 2023 or soonest thereafter
End date: 31 December 2023
Working hours: 15-20 hours per week
The position is temporary due to funding restrictions
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and HK. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply. Please note that you need to have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa, or as a student assistant if enrolled) in order to be considered for this role.
