Overview

Assist with advocacy, communication, and logistics for the DRC.

You have:

  • Be enrolled at a university for a relevant education (this is a prerequisite for the position).
  • Have completed minimum two years of higher education.
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Be effective in the use of MS Office and knowledge of/experience with Office 365.
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Be able to work systematically with a good structure for the work that you do.
  • Have an eye for detail and strive to get the job done.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of information management and internal communication.
  • Experience with Zoom, Teams or other online meeting/conferencing systems.
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of international displacement, humanitarian and development work.
  • Experience working with administrative tasks.
  • Knowledge of the Danish language.

The Advocacy, Press and External Communications Division in the department of Programme, Policy and External Relations at the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is looking for a talented student assistant to assist our work towards a stronger global voice in support of people affected by forced displacement.

Who we are

The Advocacy, Press and External Communications Division’s key role is to facilitate a more prominent position for advocacy and external communication of DRC. The division works closely with regions and country operations to strengthen coherent advocacy and external communication with institutional donors from the local to the global level; leads selected global advocacy and policy engagement projects, and supports DRC’s senior management, including the Secretary General, in their external advocacy and representation of DRC.

The student assistant position refers to the Head of Division, with day-to-day tasking and coordination with the Policy Advisors.

About the job

You will work alongside colleagues in the division with an emphasis on the following tasks:

  • Management of information and workflows related to DRC’s advocacy infrastructure;
  • Filing and structuring of data and information;
  • Maintain intranet pages for the team and other communication tools;
  • Support to tasks related to both internal and external meetings;
  • Logistics and coordination around preparation for senior management external engagement;
  • Formatting and proofreading of documents;
  • Logistical and technical support to online meetings, webinars and conferences;
  • Other administrative support.

There may be additional tasks assigned depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a keen interest in global displacement and migration; be good with words; and have a systematic approach to and interest in information management and be technically minded and willing to learn.

Moreover, we expect the following:

We offer

Workplace: HQ, Borgergade 10, Copenhagen

Start date: Late August or early September 2022

The Student Assistant position is 15 hours per week. Duration of the position is 12 months with possibility of extension subject to donor funding. Employment as a student assistant is contingent on enrollment in an academic institution.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and HK.

Please note that you need to have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa) to be considered for this role as well as being enrolled in an academic institution throughout the duration of the position.
