Stretch Assignment: Ghana Country Office (Onsite)

Title: Human Resource Associate (G6) Level: GS6 – we encourage staff from all levels with the relevant experience to apply Reports to: Human Resource Manager Duration: 3 months Section: Operation Section, Division/Office Location: Accra, Ghana Dates/Duration: Stretch assignment from 1st April to 30th June 2024. Eligibility: All Fixed-Term, Permanent or continuing appointment UNICEF staff members currently working in UNICEF worldwide.

Background

Ghana Country Office (GCO) is a medium-sized office. The human resource responsibilities that support the implementation of the country programme is normally discharged by four staff members.

As a result of reduction of staff within the unit, Ghana Country Office is on a lookout for support through stretch assignment to support with HR functions at the GS 6 level.

Purpose of the Position

Provide technical administrative, procedural, and operational support and assistance to the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions.

Duration This stretch assignment will be for a period of three (3) months.

Support to business partnering.

Support in processing of entitlements and benefits of local staff.

Support in recruitment and placement.

Support in organization design and job classification.

Support in learning and capacity development.

General office support

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

To qualify as an advocate for every child, you will have.

Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization.

A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical work experience required.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel required.

Fluency in English is required.

Competencies:

Eligibility and application process:

  • Applicant bust must be on fixed-term, permanent or continuous appointment till the end of the assignment duration.
  • Applicant must be at GS6 level with HR role.
  • Approval of the current supervisor to undertake the stretch assignment for the entire period of three (3) months.

Upon completion of the selection process the receiving and releasing office will discuss proposed start date.

Funding arrangement

Ghana Country office will cover the cost for economy class return ticket and pay 50% DSA at Accra elsewhere rate for the duration of the assignment if the successful candidate is not from Accra.

Since the selected candidate will retain his/her current position and no changes will be made to his/her employment status (e.g., post level, post number, remuneration etc.,) the releasing office will continue to cover the full salary for the staff member.

The assignment is not linked to a vacant position therefore, the selected candidate would not be eligible to Special Post Allowance (SPA)
